World Forestry Center

The World Forestry Center is a nonprofit educational institution in Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon. Located near the Oregon Zoo in Washington Park, the organization was established in 1964 as the Western Forestry Center, with the actual building opening in 1971.

The World Forestry Center is a non-profit dedicated to creating and inspiring champions of sustainable forestry. Based in Portland, Oregon, the organization provides critical programs in convening and professional development of global leaders and practitioners in forestry and related fields. Through its World Forest Institute, the WFC has hosted public and private forest professionals from over 40 countries to advance research, networking, and knowledge exchange. The World Forestry Center’s Discovery Museum is a resource for the general public on local and global forests and sustainable forestry. Located in Portland’s beautiful Washington Park, the 20,000 square foot museum is sure to delight anyone from ages 3 to 103.
